A galaxy is a massive collection of many millions of stars and their solar systems, gas, dust and dark matter, that is held together by gravity. Scientists believe that there could be one hundred billion galaxies in the universe. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, is a spiral galaxy that is thought to contain between 200 and 400 billion stars.
